Where did we come from?

Ethan in referee stripes

Davoda was founded by Ethan Trooskin-Zoller, who loves making simple, delightful software for people.

Ethan delivered products at Microsoft like Windows XP’s Remote Desktop, enabling people to use their work computers from home (back when most folks had desktop machines). He also designed the API set for Windows Media Center and worked with third-party companies to build beautiful and easy-to-use applications that ran on your TV.

He was a co-founder of the not-for-profit Trek The Vote, where he built software that paired voter-protection volunteers from the Star Trek fandom with partners based on their location, availability, and skills.

Ethan is currently the Head Non-Skating Official for a youth roller-derby league, the Seattle Derby Brats. His work recruiting and training volunteers as officials inspired him to develop a tool to roster those people into officiating roles based on their skills, preferences, and growth desires. This project laid the foundation for Davoda Scheduler.

Our engineering team is led by Jamie Kinkead. With a unique background combining an Anthropology degree and extensive tech experience, Jamie got her start at Pulumi building developer tooling and infrastructure as code. She now brings her multidisciplinary perspective, passion for automation, and innovative approach to the Davoda Scheduler team.

Milo Kinkead joined our team for summer 2024 as a software engineering intern. Milo is passionate about finding new ways to model and express concepts programmatically. As a new developer who is always trying to improve his skills, he prioritizes learning both from established sources and through experimentation. He isn’t afraid to dive into a complex problem, and is excited to see his solutions at work in the world.

At Davoda, we are committed to transforming how small businesses manage their day-to-day staffing needs with Scheduler, our easy-to-use, need- and resource-aware staff roster building tool.
